Logisitics. Accomodations.

We originally booked our flights into Munich and intended to spend our pre-cruise days there BUT apparently there is a huge construction convention taking place so the cheapest rooms (think Motel 6 out in the burbs) was over $300 a night!  So we started looking around and since I was the only one of the four of us who had been to Salzburg, we are going to pretend to be the Von Trapps and go climb every mountain.

We had previously divided up each of our days so that one of the four of us was in charge and since Sam had the initial arrival (he is the guru of mass transit) he got to find us a hotel in Salzburg.  He ended up booking us a Ramada that is right at the train station and from all the pictures, looks unlike any Ramada in the US!  Let’s hope they haven’t photoshopped it to death.  The cost was under $100 a night

.

Budapest was my city so I got busy with my friend TripAdvisor and every online hotel site I knew of and after lots of searching we came down to a hotel right at the river that was modern or a more historic property that appears to be pretty classy and updated quite well – again the cost is around $100 per night – more than I would pay in the US where Priceline Bidding is my goto for hotels but unwilling to do that in a country where I don’t speak the lingo.  So we are staying at the lovely Palazzo Hotel Zichy!

I am sure even if we don’t get these a room this fancy, it will be a fine hotel to rest our head for two nights.

  1. Looking forward to hearing how the hotels worked out for you! Sure looks good!! FYI, we’re now in Valparaiso Chile and board our cruise tomorrow.

  2. Salzburg is my favorite city in Austria where Visi and I spent a week of our honeymoon at the Hotel Stein at the bridge to the Old Town. Has a wonderful window seat view. Also spent a few days at a B&B at the top of a mountain where the hot air balloons flew past the window at Breakfast. Beautiful scenery. Jane
